About Me

My name is Michelle Dartez and I am a writer and content creator. I have a Blog called Muzik Junqie where I talk about all things Music, Entertainment, and Culture. I worked as a contributor for The Source, having articles dealing with Black Culture and Lifestyle. Music has always been one of my passions, and being able to share that with others has been an amazing experience. I have also enjoyed being able to write about many of the things that I have loved since I was young. When I am not writing, I spend much of my time listening to music, watching sports, Anime, Korean Dramas, or some type of Psychological Thriller or Comic Book movie.

One Ok Rock Makes Passionate Return to Music!

This is probably one of my favorite music discoveries. I don’t exactly remember how I came across One OK Rock, but I think it was on IG and some people I follow were talking about them going on tour. Then they popped up when the new album Luxury Disease came out, so I figured it was a great time to get into them. Also, I’ve been going back to my love of Punk/ Rock/ Alternative music, which is mixing with my love of Korean and Japanese music.

I’ll try to not be all over the place with my excitem

Nightlife... The Punk/ R&B Band to Check Out!

I guess Tik Tok can be good for something lol. But seriously, I was scrolling on the “For You” page on Tik Tok when I came across the group Nightlife. They are a black punk/ R&B band. I had already been trying to listen to more groups like that, so the timing couldn’t be better.

One snippet of their latest single and I was hooked. Keep reading if you want to get to know Nightlife, and my thoughts on their music.

Nightlife is a soul punk band from Baltimore. The band consists of: Singer Hansel

Meg Thee Stallion Shows Raw Emotion on Traumazine!

Meg Thee Stallion is one of my favorite female artists but for some reason, I have not done more articles about her and her music. I do post about her a lot on social media, but that’s been in. And I am a little “late” with this review for her latest album Traumazine, but I was going make this got up no matter what or when. So, I hope you guys keep reading and check out my thoughts on what is, in my opinion, her most raw and emotional album yet.

Megan Thee Stallion is a rapper, singer, and song

5 K-Pop Ladies/ Groups to Check Out!

When it comes to the ladies in K-Pop, I tend to be a fan of the solo artists more. It’s still taking me a while to really get into the girl groups. I am a fan of a few, like (G) Idle, Twice, and Everglow, for example. But this post will mainly be for some of my favorite solo ladies who have dropped new music recently.

Hyolyn is Back with New ICE-EP

Hyolyn is one of those OG solo artists, girl group members (SISTAR). I, of course, came to know her through Monsta X, since she was signed to Stars

J-Hope Pops Out on Jack in the Box!

I briefly talked about my thoughts on the first single from J-Hope’s new solo project Jack in the Box in my last blog post. He is the first member of BTS to release new solo music after the group announced that they would be focusing on projects outside of the group. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but he has gone in a different direction than his last mixtape. His new music and concept are much darker than the usual bright and cheerful rapper most of us have come to know.

But, to anyone who

Manga Turned Popular Netflix Series! Alice in Borderland

Alice in Borderland is another K-Drama review I wasn’t planning on doing so soon, but I have a lot to say about this one as well. I had this series in the queue before watching Squid Game, being that it’s been out for a while. After finishing Squid Game, I decided to return to it because I had heard how they were similar in plot, as far as it being a survival game series. One of the largest differences, though, is that it is technically a J-Drama, based in Tokyo Japan, with Japanese actors and a

Squid Game… A Twisted K-Drama Review!

We’re going to do things a little different with this post. This is my first of two K-Drama related posts that I am publishing in reverse order. But since Squid Game is the most recent K-Drama that I finished, and it’s been so popular, I decided to do this one first. Also, this series was something different for me, so I hope you enjoy my review!

I’ve always considered myself someone who can’t get into movies with a lot of violence or horror themes. My boyfriend does remind me, though, me how m

Issa Rae's Label, Raedio Partner's with Synchrony Bank for Financial Responsibility Mixtape

Financial services company Synchrony has teamed up with Issa Rae’s label Raedio to release a 3-song mixtape, The Bankroll EP, where the songs take you on a journey towards financial responsibility.

Many know Issa Rae from her hit HBO series Insecure which is coming up on its last season soon. Music played such an important part in the shows that Issa was a part of, so it is no surprise that she created a music label. But she is so much more than the loveable personas that we see on screen. This
